The chair, now referred to as the "Chair of Neuro-Cognitive Psychology (NCP)," was originally named the "Chair of General and Experimental Psychology," which has a significant historical legacy within the department. The chair was first held by Karl Stumpf and subsequently by notable figures such as Theodor Lipps, Oswald Külpe, Wolfgang Prinz, and Hermann J. Müller, among others. Since 2025, this chair has been led by Professor Melissa Võ.
